CVAS ANNUAL PICNIC

We will be holding our annual picnic, on Sunday June 6, in front of the original Janss House in Thousand Oaks. This is the third year in a row that we have held our picnic at this beautiful location. To reach this site, go south on Moorpark Road until it deadends approximately 1 mile south of the 101 freeway. Turn right on Greenmeadow Ave and go approximately one mile to the parking lot at the end of Greenmeadow Ave. Carpooling is encouraged as there is limited parking at this site.

The potluck picnic will be held at 11:00am. Please bring a food item to share for eight. Please bring the following if your last name begins with:

A to J: Main Dish
K to P: Dessert
Q to Z: Salad

Please bring your own table service, drinks and chairs.

FIELD TRIPS

The public is welcome to attend any CVAS meeting or field trip. CVAS assumes no responsibility for injuries, personal or otherwise, incurred while attending a society sponsored activity and will not be held liable for such accidents. One attends at one's own risk. The times listed are departure times - please arrive 15 minutes earlier. Also, if you wish to join a carpool, please bring gas money to help defray the cost of the ride. Please call the trip leader in advance to learn of any changes to the field trip plans. Rain cancels.

June 13 & 14, Satuday & Sunday, Big Bear Lake
Meet at the Civic Center on Big Bear Blvd. at 10 am on Saturday. We will search for Mt Quail, White-headed Woodpecker, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Mt Chickadee, Pygmy Nuthatch, Townsend’s Solitaire and White Pelicans. Call Dee Lyon @ 805-499-2165 for directions and to make sure we meet you.

June 21, Sunday, Pine Mountain
We will leave from the Las Posas Park and Ride at 7:30 am. Bring jacket, lunch and water for a trip up Hwy 33 to the Pine Mountain campground. High clearance vehicles are recommended. We’ll look for Green-tailed Towhee, Purple Finches, Clark’s Nutcrackers, White-headed Woodpeckers, Pygmy Nuthatches and other montane species. Our leader will be Tom Halpin @ 805-746-4598

June 27, Saturday, Sierra Vista
We will meet at Sierra Vista at 8 am. We hope to see our wonderful neotropical migrants (Lazuli Bunting, Blue Grosbeak, orioles etc). Our leader will be Rich Congersky @ 805-558-2297
